Rocky Anderson aced it. Democracy itself in the U.S. is moribund.Unless more people address the issues Anderson laid out so clearly, democracy will become a total sham.
I’d like to see prominent progressives like Anderson, Stein, Richardson, and Alexander hold debates mimicking the major party candidate debates when and where those debates occur. The media will be present for the major party debates and hence more likely to pay attention to alternative candidates. The debates involving Obama and Romney, and their running mates, wonât touch on the important issues facing the nation. The progressive alternative debates could feature discussion of such issues, as well as criticism of the major party candidates. Republican and Democratic ads are turning people off. The already large percentage of the electorate longing for an alternative, but ignorant of the great alternatives such as Anderson already campaigning, is a sleeping giant that could be awakened by such political theater. All this requires is hiring a hall and showing up. If at least some of the progressive candidates showed up, it could be a game changer. What do you think?
I hope Rodriguez campaigns tirelessly, day and night, with or without Anderson. The campaign needs the kind of personal, down-to-earth warmth Rodriguez offers. He also should provide knowledgeable support for Anderson’s ideas about continuing high unemployment, especially among the poor and minorities, erosion of civil and humanitarian rights, domination of the MIC, the smothering effect of vast amounts of money on the nation’s political system, corruption of the MSM, global warming — all the vital issues Anderson speaks of so powerfully.
This video epitomizes what makes Anderson such a remarkable candidate. The man actually thinks about truth and justice instead of mouthing platitudes designed to appeal to the ignorant electorate (ignorant because the MSM keeps them that way). Anderson says what would dawn on a person of normal intelligence if he/she thought deeply and long, and knew the facts as Anderson does. His command of history and logic is truly amazing.
The first thing I hear from virtually anyone I tell about Anderson’s campaign is the “spoiler” argument. I’ve lived through the campaigns of a lot of “spoilers,” but none explained so compellingly why we have to break the major party domination powered by money and corruption. We simply have no hope of ending that domination if we keep voting for the major party candidates.

Nader’s analysis is spot on. The big question now is, who will run with Anderson? Nader himself is a possibility, but Nader also could use his influence to help name and support someone as Anderson’s running mate.
Anderson is putting his life on the line in opposition to both major parties — or I should say, the single major party with two factions who differ mainly in whom they run around with, not ideas. A great many Americans disagree with the loonies in both major parties, and many more would disagree if the opposing views got play in the MSM.
The lesser of two evils argument just doesn’t work this time. Not with Obama assassinating people around the world (who says he can’t do it on U.S. soil?) without any semblance of due process, and brazenly, ignorantly prejudging guilt of Private Manning (no relation), not to mention subjecting people to torture and indefinite detention, again with no due process of law.
Anderson has a firm and comprehensive grasp of all the issues. The plutocracy he refers to has set up anti-democratic obstacles to ballot access. If Anderson doesnât overcome those obstacles, write him in! We need to announce loudly and clearly that Obama wonât get the support of people who still believe in the American ideals that Anderson stands for.
