I can’t disagree with you, especially about the abuse under privatized prisons.

I applaud your stand. It’s a tough call, and in theory, would be the right one. But the Arab world is not going to simply forgive and forget. Israel has a valid point in the need for buffer zone protection. It also has to stop building settlements where it has no business.

IF there were to be a true solution to the problem, it has to begin with SINCERE efforts on the part of all parties involved – Israeli, Arab, Palestinian, and VERY lastly, the U.S. Probably will need direct involvement with other bordering nations – to carve out a reasonable security zone for Israel, space for a country for Palestine and compensation for the lands taken in ’67 that still remain under Israeli control. U.S. Jews will not like this solution, but realize that it is the ONLY way peace will ever have a chance.

(Having said that, I don’t think this has a chance either, there are too many anti-Semitics to live and let live. Frankly, I don’t think your solution will work, and I cannot think of ANY solution that will still include a healthy Israel (and a Palestine or not…) There is too much history, hatred and fanaticism for the haters – on BOTH sides – to put down their arms and stop fighting. If it were about money, or land, or simple “conquest,” there could be a solution. But this is My Invisible Master against Your Invisible Master, and there truly is nobody at the controls of that 2000-year-long freight train.
