Until we get money out of politics and elections all third parties are little more than a distraction. Since that is a daunting task, we should remember we also have another currency; information.
We have to do a better job of stumping for real honest democracy and Rocky Anderson. That takes opening the discussion every chance you get. Eyeball to eyeball even a staunch right winger can’t say we have a democracy.
Nobody likes Citizens United and that’s the point, why should anyone be able to buy influence or choose our candidates? The case for
DEMOCRACY is the case for honesty. It’s also the case for federally funded elections and the exclusion of all private money and lobbying. It’s the case for closing the revolving door.
No one can deny we can’t have a democracy so long as political influence is bought with campaign contributions and PACs. We all need to reach that level of intellectual honesty. All it takes is an honest question: Do we live in a Democracy?
We don’t even have a “two party system” because they are the same and it appears, wholly owned. Democracy as we know it requires a suspension of disbelief. We live in a self-deluding lie of liberty.
Long after this election is over I hope we can continue to support Rocky with reinvigorated effort to make him more known. We desperately need honest public servants. Rocky Anderson is the kind of man who should be President. The alternative is a head-long rush into corporatized new world order. We need to start talking fast. We need to play by our own rules. The campaign season for 2016 should start now.
